The West African College of Physicians (WACP) announces the commencement of online registration for the April 2021 Examinations.
  • The examination portal at wac-physicians.org/new/login opens on Monday 30th November 2020.
  • Applicants are strongly advised to visit the website for necessary information (Control forms) on how to apply and eligibility criteria for Primary, Membership and Fellowship aspects of the examination wac-physicians.org/pages/guidelines.
  • Registration closes on Monday 4th January 2021. NO LATE REGISTRATION.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Primary Fellowship Examinations:
    The primary examination will hold on 4th March 2021. Applicants are advised to indicate their choice of examination centers in the process of making their ONLINE registration. The examination will be conducted using the Computer Based Test Mode in the following examination towns:-

    1. Abuja – Nigeria
    2. Enugu - Nigeria
    3. Ibadan - Nigeria
    4. Accra – Ghana
     
    The details of the centres will be communicated directly to the candidates before the examination.
    The Paper and pencil examination will be conducted on the same date and day in:
    1. Banjul – The Gambia
    2. Monrovia – Liberia
    3. Freetown – Sierra Leone
  • Membership Examinations:
    The Screening membership examination will hold on 4th March 2021. Applicants are advised to indicate their choice of examination centers in the process of making their ONLINE registration. The examination will be conducted using the Computer Based Test Mode in the following examination towns:-
    1. Abuja – Nigeria
    2. Ibadan - Nigeria
    3. Accra – Ghana

     NOTE:
    • The details of the centres will be communicated directly to the candidates before the examination.
    • Only those who pass the CBT Screening will proceed to write the clinical and
    practical aspects at University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, National Hospital Abuja (NHA)
    and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Accra on 7th – 13th April 2021.
  • Fellowship Examinations:
    The fellowship examination will hold from 7th – 13th April 2021. Applicants are advised to indicate their choice of examination centers in the process of making their ONLINE registration. The examination will hold in the following centres:
     
    1. University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Nigeria.
    2. National Hospital Abuja (NHA) Nigeria.
    3. Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH, Accra) Ghana
    NOTE: Venue for Fellowship in Internal Medicine Subspecialty may vary according to logistics.
    Send a mandatory signed E-Copy (Ms-Word) of the Dissertation, approved proposal and casebook stating faculty and name to dissertations@wac-physicians.org and autopsy book to autopsy@wac-physicians.org.  Your email SUBJECT and attached documents, should be stated and saved as: [Faculty SURNAME other name. E.g Paediatrics – Dr. JOHN Bello].

Additional practical examination fee of N39,100 ($85) is payable by Membership and Fellowship candidates in Laboratory Medicine, and Membership candidates in Community Health. THIS IS
PAYABLE VIA THE ONLINE REGISTRATION ALONG WITH THE APPLICATION FORM OTHERWISE THE APPLICATION STANDS DISQUALIFIED. Assessor’s fee for Fellowship candidates’ Case Book/Dissertation fee is N57,500 ($125) and must be paid online.

EVIDENCE OF PAYMENT
Candidates applying for primary, membership and fellowship examinations should log on to wac-physicians.org and follow the step by step procedure for online registration which could be printed as evidence of payment.   BANK DRAFTS AND TELLER ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE FOR EXAMINATION APPLICATION.
APPLICANTS NOT RESIDING IN NIGERIA:
  1. Ghana: Should pay (in the name of West African College of Physicians) into GCB Bank (Korle-Bu Branch) Account No. 1131130009095. The PAY-IN-SLIP should be submitted to the College Office for a UNIQUE PAYMENT CODE which will be needed to complete the ONLINE REGISTRATION.
  2. Other Countries: Should start application process online and pay in USD.
 

APPLICATION

CLOSING DATE

  1. Attendance of Mandatory Course in Medical Ethics and Revision/Update courses of the College are prerequisites for sitting Membership Examinations. Anticipated attendance/submission of certificates are not accepted.
  2. Candidates for the Membership or Fellowship Examinations will be expected to submit a Photocopy copy of their completed Log books to the College. The original should be brought to the examination hall.
  3. Submitting altered, falsified or incomplete documents to the West African College of Physicians may be a sufficient cause for the College to apply punitive sanctions per the decision of the court of examiners.  WACP will report findings of irregular behavior to the Medical & Dental Council of the Country where the candidate practices, to other Postgraduate Medical Colleges in the West African Region and to any other organization or individual who, in the judgement of WACP, has a legitimate interest in such information.
  4. Code of conduct including dress code for the candidates shall be strictly enforced. All candidates must be CORPORATELY DRESSED.
  5. The College has zero-tolerance policy to examination malpractices and use of cheating devices.
  6. Change of Examination Centre after submission of application form shall no longer be entertained.
  7. College however, reserves the right to change your Exam Centre (Abuja/Accra/Enugu/Ibadan) for the Primary/Membership/Fellowship examinations dependent on logistics.
  8. Physically challenged applicants are advised to apply to the Secretary General stating their disability for logistic purposes to be considered along with the uploaded application form.
  9. DEFERMENT OF EXAMINATION AFTER APPLICATION IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!
  10. Candidates in the THIRD Trimester of pregnancy or in the EARLY Postnatal Period are encouraged not to apply.
  11. Applicants with health challenges should not apply for the examination.
  12. No refund will be entertained for NON-ATTENDANCE at examination.
  13. Note a revised exam schedule and dates will be in place for this examination
Note: For Membership examinations in all faculties of the West African College of Physicians, only candidates who have performed satisfactorily in the CBT Exams would be allowed to proceed with the rest of the examinations. Results will be hosted on the website.
NB: APPLICANTS STANDS DISQUALIFIED ONCE HE/SHE DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE COLLEGE AFTER VETTING OF APPLICATION FORMS.
